Continuity in energy awareness

Environmental responsibility isn’t just a trend—it’s a mindset. And it’s precisely this mindset that underpins everything we do at synaforce. Our data centers aren’t just designed to be high-performance; they’re also operated in a way that ensures we can continue to be proud of them in the future.

With our energy goals for 2026/2027, we are consistently continuing on this path—even as a growing company with new locations and increasing demands. Because one thing is clear: growth brings not only new opportunities, but also greater responsibility.

Construction of the Hofkirchen II (HK II) Data Center

A major project is already in the starting blocks: the planned HK II data center. Here, we are relying on the latest generation of liquid cooling systems and state-of-the-art battery storage. Particularly exciting is an approach that extends beyond our own four walls: The waste heat that inevitably arises in a data center will no longer simply be wasted in the future. Instead, we plan to distribute it in a targeted manner—for example, to meet the heating needs of buildings in the immediate vicinity. We want to make good use of energy that is generated anyway, rather than losing it—that is efficiency in action for us.

We are continuously optimizing our power supply: The locations—HK I, Mainz, and in the future also HK II—are supplied with 100% verifiable green electricity. In addition, there are three photovoltaic systems (four in the final phase of construction), as well as solar power at the Mainz location. At these two and other locations, charging stations for electric vehicles are, of course, provided.

On paper, all of this is reflected in figures that truly speak for themselves: Our PUE values of 1.12 (2024) and 1.13 (2025) are among the best in the industry—and thus already meet the requirements of the upcoming Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG). Our energy management system, certified to DIN EN ISO 50001, provides the structured framework for all of this.

Our careful use of resources doesn’t just begin in the data center racks, but much earlier. With every product purchase, we ask ourselves whether there is a more environmentally friendly alternative.

Our CTO Tobias Lehner put it this way back in 2023—and it holds truer today than ever:

„To continue reducing our carbon footprint and have a positive impact on the environment, synaforce will continue to deploy innovative solutions and technologies to achieve its sustainability goals and continuously optimize energy efficiency. We assure you that this is not the end of our efforts toward a carbon-neutral data center.”

In everything we do, we look at the entire lifecycle—not just what matters today. That is our commitment, and we stand by it.
