Positive eco-balance in the synaforce High End Datacenter:
The topics of efficiency improvements, energy requirements and sustainability were and are also of immense importance for the operation of data centers. It is all the more gratifying that the eco-balance of synaforce at the Hofkirchen site is clearly positive, according to CEO Peter Hartl.
The synaforce High End Datacenter in Hofkirchen, Lower Bavaria, is a pioneer in sustainability. The hypermodern data center consistently relies on sustainable and emission-free solutions and obtains 100% renewable electricity for its infrastructure.
In accordance with the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), synaforce generates a large part of its electricity requirements for its data center with its own photovoltaic systems, thus actively supporting the energy transition. In addition to the existing sustainable on-site power generation, synaforce has also been sourcing the purchased electricity for its data center exclusively from renewable energy sources since January 2023. This step is another milestone in the company's sustainability strategy and underscores synaforce's commitment to greater climate protection.
"We operate our data center with 100% green electricity. Our data centers have operated at a very high energy efficiency level (PuE < 1.1) right from the start. We were able to optimize this even further last year with modern measurement and building control technology. An expansion of our photovoltaic systems now covers 25% of our total energy requirements. Since the beginning of 2023, the missing energy has been covered 100% by renewable energies. Through these measures, we can not only optimize the operating costs of our data centers, but likewise realize a major contribution to the issue of sustainability and emissions," says Peter Hartl, CEO of synaforce, adding:
"An energy audit (DIN-EN 16274-1), which we passed with flying colors in December 2022, also officially underpinned our energy-saving measures.
As a High End Data Center Solutions Provider, synaforce recognizes its responsibility regarding the protection of our planet. The goal was and is to keep environmental impacts as low as possible and to make a measurable contribution to reducing CO2 emissions. With the complete conversion to renewable electricity and the certified climate-neutral operation, synaforce sets an important sign for a sustainable future.
"In addition, we use highly efficient cooling and UPS systems at our other locations as well, which allows us to reduce our energy consumption to a minimum. Thanks to these and many other measures, we now achieve a PUE value (a measure of data center energy efficiency) of less than 1.1 and can thus count ourselves, along with a few peers, among the most energy-efficient data centers in the world," adds synaforce CTO Tobias Lehner, and goes on to say, "In order to continue reducing its carbon footprint and making a positive impact on the environment, synaforce will continue to use innovative solutions and technologies to achieve its sustainability goals and continuously optimize its energy efficiency. We assure that this is not the end of our efforts for a CO2-neutral data center."
