Between projects, finance, and business development

Dominik's working day is characterized by variety and a lot of communication. “I am a project manager and work in sales/bizdev for the finance department. My working day consists of customer and project meetings, coordinating new project requirements, compiling information for quotations, and developing new business areas,” he describes.

In addition to these sales and project-related tasks, he is also active in technical areas—a point that makes his role particularly versatile. One focus is on creating software updates and installation media for ATM software.

Thanks to his many years of experience in finance, Dominik is also a sought-after contact internally: colleagues like to turn to him when it comes to technical questions, project background information, or assessments.

Maintaining an overview and building bridges

A key requirement in his role is the ability to maintain an overview of various projects and tasks—both within the team and on the customer side. “It's important to organize the different projects and the associated tasks well,” says Dominik. “For me, this also includes enjoying communicating with customers and maintaining an open, trusting exchange.”

For him, good customer relationships are a key success factor: they facilitate coordination, create transparency, and help to develop suitable solutions together. Communication within the team is just as important to him.

Regular exchange, short communication channels, and open cooperation help to identify potential problems early on and take countermeasures. Dominik is happy to answer questions from colleagues, whether they concern ongoing projects or new topics.

Proof of concept: testing new technologies in practice

He particularly enjoys working on proof-of-concept installations. This allows him to contribute both his technical and conceptual skills.

"I like to familiarize myself with new topics in the project or technical environment. I particularly enjoy preparing proof-of-concept installations because we usually use new technologies and can offer the customer clear added value," he says.

These PoCs are often an important step for customers to try out new solutions on a limited scale and evaluate their impact in their own environment – an area where Dominik can contribute his experience from many projects.

Unwinding between skiing, diving, and discovering new places

One thing in particular helps him balance his everyday project work: traveling. “Whenever I get the chance, I try to see new places and get to know other cultures,” says Dominik.

He combines traveling with activities that help him unwind, especially skiing and diving. Whether on the slopes or underwater, these are moments when his mind clears and he can distance himself from everyday life.

He also enjoys organizing trips, especially with friends. “It fits in quite well with my job as a project manager,” he says with a wink – because here, too, it's about planning many different elements so that everything fits together in the end.
